ASUS Launches GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition Graphics Card: 4.3-Slot Design With Vapor-Chamber Cooler

ASUS and Noctua have teamed up once more, this time combining the flagship power of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 Series with Noctua’s legendary cooling in one glorious package.

The ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition is a continuation of our collaboration with the legendary cooling company, and it builds on the work we did on our GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 Noctua variants. This year, we collaborated to harness the power of the mighty GeForce RTX 4080. We were able to create the quietest air-cooled RTX 4080 on the market thanks to Noctua’s fan design expertise and ASUS’ custom-built vapour chamber.

Quiet and cool
The ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition features a pair of Noctua’s cutting-edge NF-A12x25 fans that move air over a massive heatsink developed in collaboration between our own veteran thermal R&D team and Noctua engineers. These engineers worked tirelessly to optimise the heatsink’s fin density and heat pipe arrangement for the NF-airflow A12x25’s characteristics. We increased the total volume of this card to occupy 4.3 slots to prioritise low noise levels, a smooth acoustic signature, and high cooling performance while making room for this pair of 120mm fans. The card includes a Dual BIOS switch, and Quiet mode is enabled by default to reduce acoustics right out of the box.

Because of the numerous innovations packed into its 120mm frame, the NF-A12x25 was an easy choice for this project. The impeller is made of Noctua’s proprietary Sterrox® liquid-crystal polymer, which has a very low thermal expansion coefficient, allowing the fan blades to sit only 0.5mm away from the outer frame. Because of this extremely tight tolerance, the NF-A12x25 can work more efficiently against back pressure by reducing airflow leakage, which is ideal for a densely packed GPU fin stack. This extremely precise gap between the impeller and frame is further supported by a metal-reinforced motor hub and axis.

Vapor chamber advancement
While our collaboration with Noctua on the GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 Noctua Editions was a huge success in terms of minimising acoustics for maximum GPU performance, we weren’t satisfied. So, this year, we added a large vapour chamber with an eight-heat-pipe network. The ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 Noctua Edition has the same ultra-low noise levels as the GeForce RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 Noctua variants when operating at the GeForce RTX 4080’s TDP of 320W. Trust the decades of engineering expertise behind ASUS and Noctua to get the most out of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080.

Style with confidence

We know that Noctua fans are as concerned with the aesthetics of their builds as they are with high performance and low noise levels. For the pair of NF-A12x25 fans, we designed a custom brown shroud that complements their distinct colour scheme and provides a secure mounting system — no zip ties required. ASUS and Noctua logos on the front and sides of the shroud, as well as subtle graphics on the full-length alloy backplate, help this card match other Noctua components in a system.
